The Township Planning Commission (PC) is now accepting applications from adult residents
interested in serving on the PC. This is an unpaid position on appointment from the Board of Supervisors
(BOS) for a term of 4 years.
The PC meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm at the Great Valley Middle
School. Additional meetings may be scheduled as circumstances and work load require. The PC is an advisory
board to the BOS that reviews various applications for land use and development including subdivision
and conditional use requests. Also, the PC works with township consultants (land planner, engineer,
solicitor) to craft and recommend ordinance changes.
Previous experience in land use law is NOT required, however, a desire to serve and
the willingness to speak and engage in civil debate at meetings is a must. This position requires time
to review applications, plans and submissions and typically will not exceed, apart from meeting time,
5 hours per month. That estimate varies based on workload. All members are expected to ultimately serve,
based on seniority, as the Vice Chair and then Chair. The Chair sets the meeting agenda, manages meeting
discussions and serves as liaison to other Boards and our Township consultants.
If you enjoy contributing to your community, civil debate and exchange and are willing
to work to build consensus and plan for the future of Charlestown Township, you may wish to serve on
the PC.
All interested persons are asked to submit contact information and a resume, if available,
to the Township Administrator, Linda Csete at
admin1@charlestown.pa.us or contact the Township Office at 610 240-0326.
