Yellow Springs Road Reliability Project

From PECO –

January 18, 2023 – PECO External Affairs, Delaware County, PA

Dear Customer:

Every day, PECO is delivering innovation and advancing smart energy to provide safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy and energy services for our customers. As part of our work, we will be upgrading and installing new equipment to enhance the local electric distribution system in your area.

This project is part of PECO’s System 2020 plan to invest an additional $274 million during the next five years to install advanced equipment and reinforce the electric system, making it more weather resistant and less vulnerable to storm damage. This investment is in addition to $900 million in ongoing system work completed each year, including replacing and upgrading equipment.

About the Project:

  • Approximately $200,000 will be invested to enhance the local electric distribution system for you and your neighbors in Charlestown Township.
  • We will be installing new utility poles and relocating PECO’s infrastructure out of a right-of-way to make the area more accessible by foot for the crews. This will subsequently reduce restoration time of an outage.
  • This project also will include additional tree trimming and tree removals to reduce the number of outages caused by trees and other vegetation. This process will begin March of 2023 with construction to follow in later in the April of 2023.
  • The majority of this work will occur along Yellow Springs Rd between Wells Rd and Merlin Rd.
  • Work will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • The project is expected to be completed by May 2023 and work will be performed by PECO crews or qualified PECO contractors.

Crews may need to temporarily interrupt electric service to safely complete some of this work. We will work with local residents to ensure they are informed in advance of our activities and any planned outages. In addition, much of this work will be done along Yellow Springs Rd between Wells Rd and Merlin Rd. We will work closely with local officials to minimize the impact on customers as much as possible.

We are dedicated to keeping you informed about our work, listening to your input and modifying plans based on your feedback when possible. If you have any questions about this work during construction, please contact Ai Vi Truong, engineer, at 610-648-7744 if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Bill Patterer
Director, Regional Electrical Operations
