BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
JULY 21, 1993
MINUTES

The Charlestown Township Board of Supervisors held a special meeting on Wednesday, July 21, 1993, at the Charlestown Elementary School, Charlestown Road, Devault.

Present: Irene W. Ewald, Chairman; John C. Martin, Jr., Vice Chairman; Vincent G. Kling, Sr., Member; John D. Snyder, Esq.; James E. McErlane, Esq.; Surender S. Kohli, P.E.; Ruth W. Buckwalter, Secretary, and those on the attached attendee list.

The Chairman opened the meeting at 8:25 pm.

Announcements: The Chairman announced that a Blood Drive would take place on August 4, 1993, at the East Whiteland Fire Company for Steve Mulholland, the recently injured fire fighter. Also, on July 20, Mrs. Ewald met with Mr. Alston, Mr. Kohli, representatives of PENNDOT’s Safety Engineering Department and the Fire Chiefs and Medics who respond to this area to review the hairpin curve on Rt. #29 between Hollow Road and Dixon Drive, the scene of many accidents. Mrs. Ewald noted that during this a.m. meeting, three accidents occurred at the site.

The Chairman turned the meeting over to Mr. Snyder who stated that this is a continued session of the Public Hearing that’s being conducted in the matter of the application of the Estate of Suzanne Eastwick for Preliminary Subdivision/Land Development Plan approval and for Conditional Use approval. A Court Recorder took the minutes. Saul A. Behar, Esq. and Vincent G. Kling, Jr., represented the Applicants. Mr. Behar addressed the following issues: building envelopes, existing trails on both the north and south sides of Church Road, replacement of trees, common driveways, sand mounds, deed restrictions and covenants. Mr. Behar stated that the Applicants are willing to extend the time for a decision until August 2, 1993. Lou Colagreco, Esq., on behalf of the Three Ponds Homeowners Assn., listed five issues for the Board’s consideration. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Joos gave testimony having to do with storm water run-off onto their property which they feel will be increased by this project. Questions and statements were made by Jeff Kohlhas, Marsha Solda, John Garvin, Eleanor Morris, Robert Cattone and John Sauser.

This Public Hearing will be continued during the August 2, 1993 meeting of the Board of Supervisors – 11:45 pm.
