PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors of Charlestown Township will hold a virtual public meeting at 7:00 PM on January 4, 2021 to consider the enactment of the following Ordinance. The Township will use the meeting platform WebEx to conduct the meeting and to provide for public participation. Information on Video/Audio Participation will be available at the Township website: www.charlestown.pa.us.

AN ORDINANCE OF CHARLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, CHESTER COUNTY, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA AMENDING THE CHARLESTOWN TOWNSHIP CODE, TO ADD A NEW PART 6 GOVERNING RESIDENTIAL STAND-BY GENERATORS TO CHAPTER 10 HEALTH AND SAFETY

A summary of the proposed ordinance follows:

Section 1. Chapter 10, Health and Safety, of the Charlestown Township Code of Ordinances is amended to add a new Part 6 RESIDENTIAL STAND-BY GENERATORS to regulate Stand-by generators affixed to the ground and used to power single family residential dwellings for temporary periods of time during power outages to require permits, homeowner’s association approval, location in a rear yard, or side yard not directly abutting a street or with screening, setbacks of at least 21 feet from the side and rear property lines with any noise caused by a generator being measured less than 57 dBL at the property line or residence. Portable Residential Stand-by Generators not affixed to the ground are not regulated by this Part
