PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS GIVEN, the Charlestown Township Board of Supervisors will hold two public hearings during its virtual public meeting on August 3, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. In the case of this advertised meeting, to comply with Governor Wolf’s Order and in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the Township will use the meeting platform WebEx to conduct the meeting and hearings and to provide for public participation. Video/Audio Participation will be available at the website https://www.webex.com/login/attend-a-meeting. The meeting number and meeting password (Access Code) will be available at the Township’s website: www.charlestown.pa.us. If you are unable to participate in the meeting through the WebEx platform but would like to provide public comment on any agenda item, you may email your comments to admin1@charlestown.pa.us prior to 4:00 P.M. on August 3, 2020, and your comments will be read aloud during the public comment portion of the meeting.

The two public hearings are to consider the following:

The Board will consider the ordinance and take public comment at the hearing and possibly enact the ordinance immediately following the public hearing as part its regular meeting on the same night. A copy of the ordinance is available for public examination without charge or may be obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof during regular business hours at the Township Offices located at 4030 Whitehorse Road, Devault, PA 19432. A summary of the text of the ordinance is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CHARLESTOWN CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 27, - ZONING, PART 22 – TRADITIONAL NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT, SECTIONS 2211 AND 2212, REGARDING TND AREA 3 AND LIVE WORK UNITS

Section 1 amends Chapter 27 – Zoning, Part 22 – Traditional Neighborhood Development, Section 2211.1. of the Township Code to add subsection J. Live-work units; and apartments above retail and/or office. Section 2. amends Section 2212.1.F to permit Live-work units, and apartments above retail and/or office with the ground floor area shall not exceed 3,000 square feet.

The Board will also consider the Application of G.V. Commons Lot 1, L.P. and Turning Point Dance Center to permit an education use by conditional use pursuant to Section 2211.3.C of the Zoning Ordinance within General Warren Village shopping center located at 12 General Warren Blvd. also identified at tax parcel 35-4-108.2. The property is located in the TND-3 Traditional Neighborhood District. The proposed educational use would consist of a dance studio for students from 3-18 years of age, approximately 4000 square feet in size and with 12 parking spaces.
