Business

Trails Report and List of Projects

Mr. Beyers was not available tonight for an update, and Ms. Beyers will be available in early August. Mr. Lawrence handled the updates.

  1. The repairs at the Pickering Dam bridge are complex, not for a scout, so they will be brought to the attention of the Board. Mr. Hubbard will forward the contact information of the Mill contractor so Mr. Lawrence can obtain an estimate in advance of the next Board meeting.
  2. There is a cesspool hole that needs a grate at the ruins of a home on Route 29 on the dam side. Mr. Lawrence will contact Mr. Beyer.
  3. This is not to be confused with the ruin near Charlestown Hunt that is NOT on the dam side. This ruin has a collapsing floor and may need a site visit by a contractor at some point. Neither of these repairs are reflected in this year’s budget.
  4. A potential Eagle Scout looking into the post and rail repair project at Charlestown Park overlook.
  5. Mr. Hubbard said that the next year’s budget should contain new basketball posts and hoops for CTP. He estimates each hoop at $500-1000, they need to be heavy duty.

Jenkins Park Proposal

Mr. Longua stated that the Board approved the creation of a formal park plan by Theurkauf Design & Planning after a brief discussion. The plan should be ready for the next Park and Rec agenda.

Charlestown Day

Charlestown Day has progressed nicely. The Robinsons have planned carnival games, basketball contests, corn hole, a selfie zone, and a scavenger hunt. They discussed a ticket book with coupons that will promote scavenger visits to each vendor and non-profit stand.

Ms. Smith is working with a graphic designer for sponsor packets. So far 4 vendors, one food truck (tacos), and 4 non-profits have signed up. Volunteers are still needed for the bounce house, parking, etc. Mr. Hubbard says the Kimberton Fire Company will have a unit or two there. Mr. Longua is beginning the work on signs with Mr. Hubbard’s help. The music will be by the Mighty Manatees and Mr. Lawrence is working on perfecting a location for the stage.

Ms. Kuhn contacted Mr. Lawrence and there will be a flower show at Charlestown Day this year. The group has a yearly flower show but both thought it would be a great addition to the festivities.

Adjournment at 8:15 p.m.
