On Going

  1. EAC considering registration with Keep PA Beautiful to adopt a PennDOT road in Charlestown: Charlestown Road. Requirements for application:
    1. Adoption for minimum period of two years,
    2. Clean ups two times/year with advance notice to DOT (with time and date restrictions),
    3. Pick up safety vests/gloves/plastic trash bags,
    4. Communicate location for bag pickups,
    5. Verify each member, and each participant, has viewed online safety materials and guidelines provided by PennDOT and provide on-site safety briefing for all;
    6. Sign design name of group or org (we get two installed by PennDOT);
    7. Primary contact name/address/phone/email; road segment choice;
    8. EAC applicant files a report after litter pickups;
    9. Encouraged to separate and recycle as appropriate or required by law;
    10. Minimum age for participation is eight years of age, and from 8-17 yo must be supervised by adults (1 adult:8children).
  2. Charlestown Day planning. Suggestions: donations of environmental products, invite vendors who sell env’ly friendly products, Bartlett Tree donations, re-usable collapsible water bottles, pawpaws. Update from Richardson and Maany
  3. Weed Warrior program – invasive plant species weeding. Armstrong update
  4. Natural Resources protective ordinances (trees and others) request per PC & Thomas Comitta Assoc. Update.
  5. Bird Town application – Goodman
  6. Township newsletter articles (1/15, 4/15, 7/15, & 10/15). Two or three articles for summer edition due 7/15 (Status of bat health in our area, riparian wildlife at Brightside, tree identification walk). Ideas for Fall?
  7. Open Land Conservancy Kendig family site donated, across from Jenkins property. Goodman update.
  8. All: Community Education series future suggestions:
    1. Watershed-Friendly Property Certification program (Armstrong) – date?/li>
    2. Wild Neighbors: Loving, protecting, and peaceful coexisting with wildlife (Phila Metro Wildlife Center) – November 2022.
