Minutes of November 15, 2010

The second business meeting for November was held November 15, 2010 at the Charlestown Township Office, 4030 Whitehorse Road, Malvern, PA.

Present:

Supervisors: Charlie Philips, Chairman, Hugh Willig, Vice Chairman, Kevin Kuhn
Consultants: Mark Thompson, Esq.

Call to Order:

7:30 p.m.

Announcements

Mr. Philips announced that the Board of Supervisors held an executive session at the Township Office at 4:30 p.m. today to discuss legal and real estate matters.

Mr. Philips announced the passing of former resident Lee Raden, who was an award winning horticulturalist specializing in Alpine flora.

No matters were brought forward.

Hearing

Ordinance Levying a Tax on Earned Income

Mr. Thompson explained that the purpose of the hearing is to re-enact the Earned Income Tax to ensure it meets the new requirements resulting from 2010 changes to the local tax enabling act. There are no changes to the current tax rate of 1% for residents and ˝% for non-residents. He said the hearing was advertised in the Daily Local News three times in three consecutive weeks as required.

Mr. Kuhn moved to adopt Ordinance #162-2010 re-enacting the Earned Income Tax and Mr. Willig seconded. Mr. Philips called for discussion, and there being none called the vote. All were in favor.

Adjournment

Mr. Philips adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m. The next business meeting is scheduled for December 6, 2010, 7:30 p.m. at the Great Valley Middle School.
